The D.K. Kim Foundation was created in 2003 by Dong Koo Kim, for the purpose of providing educational resources and opportunities to those whose circumstances are restrictive. A recipient, himself, of educational opportunities during the Korean War, D.K. Kim formed the Foundation as a vehicle to provide a means for those in need of assistance to fulfill their potential through higher education.
As a non-profit, 501(c)(3) entity, the Foundation was originally dedicated to granting scholarships and donations to Universities in the U.S. Recently, the Foundation’s focus has expanded its outreach to include opportunities in the global community.
This decision to begin to build private learning institutions in Cambodia is based upon the country’s current welcoming climate, combined with the reality that the most effective impact by available resources can be achieved where need abounds. The intent of the Foundation is the positive transformation of society by providing the next generation with the tools necessary for their success. |
